Polaris Dive and Beach Resort was originally opened in June 1998 under German-/Filipino management. Since then it is managed carefully by Franz Baumann and his wife Maria. They are assisted by additional local divemaster, instructor and the always helpful native boatmen, familiar with the place. In accord with nature today' s Polaris Dive and Beach Resort was gradually developed.
Bohol is surrounded by a large number of small islands. One of them is Cabilao Island, which lies on the West of the main island of Bohol, facing Cebu island. Cabilao Island covers an area of approximately 8 square kilometers and is one of the smaller Philippine Islands. It is located in the Visayan Sea between the neighboring islands of Bohol and Cebu.
Archeological and paleontological discoveries show that Homo sapiens existed in Palawan circa 50,000 BC. The aboriginal people of the Philippines, the Negritos, are an Australo-Melanesian people, which arrived in the Philippines at least 30,000 years ago.
